Claude Code adds a working-directory write restriction

2026-10-30 · New

Stable Claude Code 2.1.314 adds an optional permission setting that makes Write, Edit and NotebookEdit reject paths outside working directories in every permission mode. It also fixes non-interactive CLI startup failures incorrectly returning a success status.

Automation teams gain clearer file-edit boundaries and failure signals. The restriction concerns the named editing tools, not blanket isolation of every terminal command. It needs configuration and testing with the team's directories and workflows.

Granite Switch 4.1.1 updates speech and decision adapters

2026-10-29 · Recent

IBM's team released the backward-compatible Granite Switch 4.1.1 patch. Its speech-recognition model covers ten languages with native punctuation and capitalization, and the Decision adapter is updated. IBM says the base model is unchanged and users can compose the adapters they need.

Modular updates let teams test capability upgrades separately and reduce full-model migration work, although compatibility and decision performance still need validation on their own data. A third-party adapter SDK and tutorials remain in preparation, not already available developer tools.

Intel data-center revenue rises 78%; supply and process readiness remain key

2026-10-30 · Recent

Intel reported third-quarter Data Center and AI revenue of $7.3 billion, up 78% year over year. It prioritized additional Xeon supply and disclosed an October release of the 14A process's 0.9 design kit. Total quarterly revenue was $16.5 billion, up 21%.

The results provide operating evidence of server demand, while the design kit indicates progress in customer design readiness. DCAI sales are not all AI revenue, and a 14A design kit does not establish volume production. Watch actual supply and customer product milestones.

SEER demonstrates replanning after a Tower of Hanoi task is disrupted

2026-10-30 · Recent

SEER demonstrated a camera-equipped robot arm solving a three-disc Tower of Hanoi and replanning after a person moved the base or rearranged the discs. The company says its VLA model used only 60 training examples and shows differently shaped objects replacing the discs.

Recovering after disruption is closer to workplace needs than replaying a fixed sequence. This remains a company demonstration: the article provides no repeated-trial success rate, cycle time or sustained-operation data. It does not establish cross-workstation generalization or completed factory deployment.

Sembcorp and DayOne sign an MoU on Asian data-center energy

2026-10-29 · Recent

Sembcorp Utilities and DayOne signed a memorandum of understanding to explore energy solutions for selected Asian data-center projects. The scope covers on-site power and generation, fuel, renewables, and operations and maintenance, with Sembcorp as technical partner.

Compute expansion requires coordinating facilities with power requirements; the value here is early planning. The announcement gives no committed power capacity, final power-purchase agreement or operating date. An MoU is not newly connected electricity or delivered computing capacity.

Canada joins EuroHPC, expanding supercomputing and AI research cooperation

2026-10-30 · Recent

The European Commission says Canada formally became a participating state in EuroHPC at the October 30 EU-Canada summit in Montreal, opening participation in European HPC, AI and quantum resources and research. The sides also agreed to cooperate on AI climate modeling through Destination Earth.

For researchers and businesses, the change concerns cross-border collaboration and access pathways, not a new batch of data centers. The cited 12 supercomputers and 19 AI Factories describe the existing network. Projects still depend on access calls and cooperation arrangements; membership is not unlimited use.

AWS quarterly revenue reaches $46 billion as Amazon's cash investment grows

2026-10-30 · Recent

Amazon reported AWS quarterly revenue of $46 billion, up 39.3%, and operating income of $17.8 billion. Group trailing-twelve-month free cash flow was a $42.4 billion outflow versus a $14.8 billion inflow a year earlier. The company mainly attributes this to increased property and equipment purchases, particularly AI investment.

Cloud demand growth and cash consumption need to be read together. AWS's $184 billion figure is an annualized revenue run rate, not realized full-year sales. Approximately $220 billion in 2026 cash capital expenditure remains a forecast. These indicate expansion intensity, not proof of project returns.

Agility expects $465 million from its combination and related financing, pending closing

2026-10-30 · Recent

After the redemption deadline, Agility and Churchill XI expect roughly $465 million in gross proceeds before expenses: about $164 million from the trust account, $201 million in committed PIPE equity financing, and $100 million in equity funding already received. The combination and PIPE are expected to close November 4.

The update connects robotics expansion with funding availability, but does not mean all $465 million has been received. Shareholder approval on November 2 and other closing conditions remain. The planned AGLT ticker does not establish a completed listing. Next watch the vote, final redemptions and net proceeds after expenses.

Data are limited attributed excerpts from Stock Analysis, with all 30 prices and changes verified. SenseTime uses the historical table display of HKD 1.11; its change is not recalculated from that rounded price. This describes numerical divergence without asserting news caused price moves. Sandisk remains pre-split.
