Gemini 4 Carbon starts with cyberdefense partners

2026-10-29 · Recent

Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon, emphasizing long-horizon coding and cybersecurity. Initial access is planned for selected cyberdefenders this week, followed by more trusted Fairwind partners. Access through general developer, business and consumer products is still to come.

Buyers and developers should check actual eligibility first. Google’s reported benchmark and internal long-running task results require validation on their own workloads; announcing a model is not the same as broad availability.

ChatGPT raises Work and Codex allowances on selected plans

2026-10-29 · New

OpenAI’s October 29 release notes say Work and Codex allowances on Pro 100 and Pro 500 double. The planned Pro 200 reduction is canceled: users already on the higher allowance keep it, while those on the lower allowance receive twice as much from October 29.

This affects budgets for sustained agent use, but is not a universal increase across every plan. Check the subscription and account display, and distinguish included usage from separately billed API credits.

Samsung expands HBM4 sales alongside SSDs and advanced nodes

2026-10-29 · New

Samsung’s Q3 release reports a substantial expansion in HBM4 sales and stronger server-SSD demand. Its semiconductor division generated KRW147.1 trillion in quarterly revenue. Foundry results benefited from HBM base dies and advanced nodes, with continued 2nm HPC customer wins reported by the company.

AI infrastructure buyers need to track bandwidth, capacity and supply together. More server DDR5 and QLC SSD supply is a forward priority; the planned 2027 start of the Taylor fab is not current capacity.

AGIBOT presents GO-3 Preview and a measure of useful robot work

2026-10-29 · New

At its Shanghai Innovation Day, AGIBOT presented GO-3 Preview, combining reasoning, prediction and action in WRAM, and launched G2 Max and Link-U OS 1.0. Its proposed Worken framework combines active robots, autonomous working hours and task-output efficiency to focus on useful work after deployment.

For factories, intervention rates, acceptable output and sustained operation matter more than production counts alone. Worken remains a company proposal; GO-3 rankings are company-reported. Link-U OS is being trialled by selected partners, with full open sourcing planned by year-end.

Alibaba Cloud opens its Netherlands region; agent services follow

2026-10-29 · New

Alibaba Cloud announced that two data centers in its Amsterdam region are available, offering compute, storage, containers, networking and databases. This is its fourth European region. Agent Sandbox, security and intelligent operations services are planned additions.

European businesses gain another option for local processing and storage, but should verify each required AI service and compliance condition. The Finland region and German and French expansions remain future plans, separate from the operating Dutch sites.

Akamai inference and isolated agent execution enter beta

2026-10-27 · Watch

Akamai introduced managed inference and Agent Sandbox, both in beta. Inference offers OpenAI-compatible APIs and serverless options. Sandbox is an open-source Spin component that uses WebAssembly to constrain compute, memory, outbound connections and system capabilities.

Enterprise pilots can evaluate model hosting and isolation for generated code together. Blackwell Ultra cluster availability requires vendor confirmation, while Vera Rubin support is planned for 2027. The full edge network should not be treated as an existing GPU fleet.

Shanghai’s manufacturing plan targets 8,000 humanoids in factories by 2028

2026-10-27 · Watch

Shanghai’s industry commission published an action plan on October 27, dated October 22, targeting 8,000 humanoid robots in factories and over 2,000 AI manufacturing applications by 2028. It also calls for a pilot-validation platform and coordinated industrial networks, compute and models.

Equipment suppliers and manufacturers should track access to deployment sites, pilot validation and implementation measures. These are policy targets, not delivered robots, signed orders, installed capacity or a mandate for every firm to deploy robots.

FuriosaAI closes a $620 million Series D for scale and its next chip

2026-10-28 · Recent

FuriosaAI announced a $620 million Series D at a $2.9 billion post-money valuation, with investors including Cisco Investments and NAVER Ventures. It says RNGD entered mass production in January, plans 20,000 cards this year, and has secured memory and fab capacity for more than twice that output in 2027.

The figure is a single funding round, not revenue or lifetime funding. Proceeds support RNGD deployment and a third-generation chip planned around 2nm multi-die technology and HBM4/4E. That chip remains in development; secured capacity is not delivered hardware.

Sandisk data-center revenue rises 61%; stock split is still ahead

2026-10-29 · New

For fiscal Q1 2027 ended October 2, Sandisk reported $11.031 billion in revenue, up 23% sequentially. Data-center revenue rose 61% to $4.802 billion, while consumer revenue fell 29%. An eight-for-one split is planned after the November 19 close, with split-adjusted trading expected on November 20.

Memory demand differs by end market; data-center growth does not describe every business. Current per-share figures and this issue’s closing price remain pre-split. Results came after the October 29 US close and cannot explain that earlier closing decline.
