ChatGPT Business rolls out locked chats

2026-10-20 · New

Business members can hide selected chats from regular history, pinned lists and search, then open them with a four-digit account PIN or supported device authentication. Rollout spans web, mobile and the new desktop clients.

This reduces accidental exposure on screens and devices. It does not delete conversations or alter workspace policies and retention. Teams should treat it as chat access control, not assume that administrative compliance access disappears.

Terminal X turns investment judgment into 54 review criteria

2026-10-20 · New

An OpenAI customer case describes how Terminal X uses 54 pass/fail criteria covering provenance, comparable-company selection and investment mandates. Across 500 judgments, the company reports 88.6% agreement between its evaluation agent and human reviewers.

The transferable idea is to encode team judgment as testable rules and separately check whether outputs fit the mandate. These are vendor-published customer measurements, not an independent benchmark or evidence of higher investment returns or redundant human review.

TorchNeuron public beta brings native PyTorch to Trainium

2026-10-20 · New

AWS announced TorchNeuron public beta for Trainium2/3: eager execution, torch.compile and custom NKI operators. Release notes date to October 19; the announcement to October 20.

Native support may ease migration, but compilation needs static shapes; some operators fall back to CPU and some PyTorch modules remain unsupported. Test model compatibility, dependencies and total cost. This is neither universal compatibility nor a chip launch.

SK hynix explains FeNAND: Where should computation happen?

Oct 14 explainer · Original paper: 2025

SK hynix’s October 14 explainer revisits IEDM 2025 research: co-optimizing ferroelectric NAND cells, interconnects and page-level organization for analog computation near stored data, reducing data movement.

Beyond capacity, storage competes on data-movement energy and precision. This is a dated explainer, not a new paper or shipping product. Array/simulation results do not establish whole-system inference gains or HBM replacement.

Google links robot simulation, training and field operations

2026-10-20 · New

Google Cloud outlines a robotics workflow spanning Isaac Sim and MuJoCo simulation on G4/GKE, Gemini and Cosmos-assisted video labeling, distributed training and local execution. Gemini Robotics ER 2 remains in preview in the article.

The value is a loop connecting scenes, training data and operating logs, reducing integration work. This is an architecture explanation, not a simultaneous launch of every component or proof of fleet delivery. Field latency, safety and data quality still require validation.

Waymo prepares Madrid service, targeting riders in 2027

2026-10-20 · New

Waymo announced preparations in Spain, starting in the Madrid region. Jaguar I-PACE vehicles will begin with manual driving before technical validation with trained local specialists behind the wheel. The company targets its first riders in 2027.

A new city first tests local traffic adaptation, regulatory engagement and operations. It does not mean driverless bookings are open. Track validation and service authorization rather than treating the target year as a guaranteed delivery date.

llm-d 1.0 schedules inference around agent context

2026-10-20 · New

Google and the community released llm-d 1.0, a Kubernetes-native distributed inference stack with stable v1 APIs, multi-tenant priority control and high-availability upgrade mechanisms. Cache-aware routing and tiered KV cache help ongoing tasks reuse context instead of recomputing it.

Teams can start with routing in front of existing engines, then add cache offload and scheduling. Measure cache hits, time to first token and whether background bursts crowd out interactive requests. Official demo and benchmark gains do not automatically transfer to every cluster.

EU high-risk AI standards: Check the scope of coverage

Journal publication Oct 14 · Adopted Oct 12

The Commission harmonised-standards page lists Decision (EU) 2026/2274, adopted October 12 and published in the Official Journal on October 14. It concerns standards for high-risk AI systems supporting the AI Act. This observation is dated to journal publication.

The Commission Article 40 text limits presumed conformity to requirements covered by the standard. Buyers should request the applicable standards and covered clauses rather than treat conformity as blanket immunity. We verified the official listing and Article 40 text, not the decision annex, so make no further claim about its standard list or commencement details.

OpenAI acquires Orchestra Bio for drug-development coordination

2026-10-20 · New

OpenAI announced it has acquired Orchestra Bio and is bringing its team and technology into work on Rosalind. Orchestra uses agents to track studies, programs and interdependent timelines, helping scientists identify how changes propagate across a drug program.

The acquisition targets coordination costs in research execution, beyond isolated scientific questions. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the announcement does not demonstrate faster clinical success. Scientists and program leaders remain responsible for key decisions.

Eka announces $150 million Series A for physical AI

2026-10-20 · New

Eka Robotics announced a $150 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz and F-Prime. It plans to expand its vision-force-action model across tasks and accelerate customer deployments. The figure is this funding round, not cumulative financing or recognized order revenue.

The company presents dexterous manipulation and simulation-based training, but demonstration throughput does not establish long-term reliability. Track object diversity, unusual conditions, maintenance cost and customer delivery rather than equating funding with robotic maturity.
